About Douwes Fine Art
Established in 1770, Douwes Fine Art is the oldest art gallery of its kind in the world, now led by the 8th and 9th generations of the Douwes family. With over 250 years of expertise, the gallery offers an exceptional collection spanning five centuries of art—featuring paintings, works on paper, and sculpture from Dutch, Flemish, French, Russian, Modern, and non-European traditions.
Rather than specializing in a single era or style, Douwes Fine Art draws on its extensive knowledge to place works in a rich historical context. From original Rembrandt prints to contemporary Chinese pieces and Africanist works, the gallery showcases both rare masterpieces and carefully curated selections for new collectors.
In 2019, Douwes Fine Art made history again by validating the first Rembrandt etching on the blockchain—underscoring its commitment to innovation in the art world.
With a foundation built on connoisseurship, restoration expertise, and a passion for sharing art, Douwes Fine Art remains dedicated to serving collectors with integrity, insight, and care. Douwes Fine Art Johannes Vermeerstraat 15-hs

The Treasure House Fair founders, Thomas Woodham-Smith and Harry Van der Hoorn, were co-founders of the original Masterpiece fair in 2009.
